Ayurveda is
the knowledge of life. It’s the most enduring healing modality prevailing in
the world today. The primary goal of Ayurveda is to keep mankind healthy by
removing the cause of the disease and re-establishing balance to our system.
Ayurveda is a philosophy of living that addresses body, mind and
consciousness.
Yoga is
Ayurveda’s sister science. A spiritual science of self-development and
self-realization. It was originated by the rishis and sages of ancient India
and has been maintained ever since. Yoga’s integrative approach brings deep
harmony and unshakeable balance to body and mind in order to awaken our
latent capacity for a higher consciousness that is the purpose of human
evolution.
Ayurveda
and Yoga have long been linked together as two complementary system of
human development. These two systems have maintained a long and intimate
history, interacting upon and enhancing one another up to the present day.

Ayurvedic Consultations
An
Ayurvedic consultation examines the causes of imbalances and how to correct
them. It’s a prescription for action, done step-by-step, from which the
patient comes to understand the different aspects of his/her nature and how
to modify these for optimal well-being.
It’s an educational process, where the practitioner helps the patient learn
how the mind and body works so that we can use them
properly.
Ayurvedic consultation deals in:
4 Primary Areas:
1) Physical factors –
diet and exercise;
2) Psychological
factors – impressions, emotions, thought;
3) Social factors –
work, recreation, relationship;
4) Spiritual factors –
yoga and meditation.
And 4 levels of
treatment:
1) Biological humors -
Balancing
Vata,
Pitta
andKapha.
2) Vital essences –
Strengthening Prana, Tejas
and
Ojas, the
master forms of
Vata,
Pitta and
Kapha.
3) Impressions –
Harmonising the mind and senses.
4) Consciousness –
Promoting the correct function of consciousness.
“Communication
is the basis of who we are and what we seek to become. We do not exist in
isolation, nor can we grow apart from the cultural matrix that sustain us.”
(Dr. David Frawley, Ayurveda and the mind)
Your imbalances did not manifest overnight and your
healing will not take place immediately, but rather by the steady
incorporation of Ayurvedic principles into your lifestyle, you will create
an environment in your body and mind that invites the healing you desire.
-
Assessment/Intake (Initial visit 1:
Questions)
- This visit will help with identifying your basic constitution
and the nature of your current imbalance. During this visit we will
discuss your health and the history of any imbalances you may be
experiencing; we will exam your bodily structures, including your
presentation of the tongue and pulse. You may leave this visit with a few ideas of how to
incorporate Ayurvedic principles in your life right away.
-
Findings (Initial visit 2:
Answers) -Takes place a few days to a
week after the initial visit to allow time for any research necessary to
best address your return to optimal health. During this visit, Taluana
will
analyse
the assessment/intake results and compile information to be reviewed with
you to be used in a collaborative process to plan your health improvement
program. The
practitioner
will offer recommendations based on your health concerns and goals, and
your current condition. This is tailored to your unique needs with the
intention of assisting you to shift from your current state of imbalance
toward your optimum balance. This may include information and instruction
on diet and eating habits, lifestyle, yoga (postures/meditation/breathing
practices), exercise, and other health improvement practices, as
appropriate. Then together
(patient and practitioner),
will
establish
a
workable program you can implement to achieve your short-term and
long-term health improvement goals.
-
Follow Up Visits: Held on an as-needed basis and you will discuss the
frequency of visits at your Initial Visit #2 appointment (findings). These visits
serve to provide you with ongoing support as you institute any changes in
your diet and lifestyle and to oversee the impact of the recommendations
taken.
The only aspect that is equal to everyone
is the final goal - to enable you to bring harmony and balance to your life,
healing yourself, and being able to do it all on your own.
